Waivers/Releasing Players will be posted here, and the transaction will be done on Fantrax by the commish. This system is now in place to compliment the rule changes that were made to free agency, the addition of player options, and the addition of the minor league roster. In keeping with the realism that we are trying to keep with this league, at will closely mimic real life waivers.
Here is how it will work:
(List is in no particular order)
1. Basically this will be where you post anyone you want to get off your MLB Roster but no longer has any options. Players will be on waivers for a 24hr period.
2. You will post here that you are placing the player on waivers to DFA to yours minors if they clear waivers. You could also word it to outright release them once they clear waivers if you truly don't want them or they will not fit under your cap. Either way you post this there is still a chance for another team to claim the player right off waivers here, and then you would lose the player regardless of which way you posted it. One bonus if the player was claimed and you were ultimately going to release them, you will not be on the hook for the penalty for dropping them.
3. During the 24hr period of waiting for a player to clear waivers you will move them to your minor leagues on Fantrax this way they will not put you over cap on the MLB Roster. It is okay if they put you temporarily over the minor cap as you are waiting for a finalization of the roster movement, and it is set up for Fantrax to not count the Minors towards your actual cap(part of the reason why we have Google Sheets).
4. Any team can put in a claim for the player on waivers during the season. They also do not have to have to cap space at the MLB Level at the time of the claim because there is no guarantee they will win the player. If they do they will then assume the players current contract, and will have to make an immediate corresponding move. If two teams claim the same player the team with the worst record(previous week total/not live scoring)at that time will win the player. Prior to the season starting and for the first week of the current season, it will go by the team's record of the previous season. If by chance teams have an exact tied record we will refer to the playoff tiebreaker system and the losing/worst team will win the player.
5. If you are looking to outright release someone from your minors you will post it here too. If will be released a.s.a.p as a release directly from the minors does not warrant a 24hr waiver period. Depending on what contract they are on if there is a penalty due it will be applied to your MLB Cap. In the event of a player passing away no penalty will apply.
