With the expansion ideas we are implementing the establishment of Player Contract Types has come about. This will keep track of what level each player is at in their fantasy career in our league.
DUSTY DIAMOND LEAGUE PLAYER CONTRACT TYPES:
MIN - Minor League Contract - Not Subject to Salary Increase - No Cap Penalty to Release
MLBRUK - MLB Level - Under 130AB/50IP - Options Not Used - Unlimited Movement - Subject to Salary Increase - 10% Cap Penalty to Release
MLB1 - MLB Level - 0-1 Years Service - Option Eligible - Subject to Salary Increase - 20% Cap Penalty to Release
MLB2 - MLB Level - 1-2 Years Service - Option Eligible - Subject to Salary Increase - 30% Cap Penalty to Release
MLB3 - MLB Level - 2-3 Years Service - Option Eligible - Subject to Salary Increase - 40% Cap Penalty to Release
MLBVET - MLB Level - 3+ Years Service - No Options - Subject to Salary Increase - 50% Cap Penalty to Release
When you promote a player from MIN they will move up to MLBRUK. Each off-season service time and AB/IP will be checked and players contracts will move accordingly. You do not have to promote a player if they are promoted in real life during the season, but they will be subject to contract changes/salary increases in the off season depending on service time etc. Service time will outweigh AB/IP in these scenarios(Exception is once 130AB/50IP is reached contract must go to MLB1 at adjustment period regardless of Service Time). You may keep a player as long as you like as long as you pay the salary increase, remain under salary caps, and can participate in the MLB Auction Draft within the set rules.
Players will have 6 options to be used once they hit MLB1 contract. Teams can use them as they see fit. Options will carry over if not used, but once a player hits MLBVET Contract/3+ Years Service Time they will be dropped to zero, and the player will have to clear waivers in-season and be subject to cap penalty. For this first year player options were done on a prorated system to reflect as close as possible as if they started on a MIN contract.
Note: All Cap Penalties will be applied to the MLB In-season Cap
Note: In the case a player is exactly on 1yr, 2yr, or 3yr Service Time they will be moved up to the next contract level
